The American Food Venture Forum (AFVF) is the only venture capital and angel investor event in the nation focused solely on emerging food and ag-tech businesses. The AFVF leverages Iowa's status as a top agricultural state to draw both innovative companies and leading venture capital firms to the event.
The 2009 AFVF hosted 15 venture capital firms representing a total of $835 million in funds.
Companies seeking funds came from as far away as Quebec, New York and California and represented every facet of food production, from teas and vodka to equipment makers. Speakers included World Food Prize Laureate Dr. Philip Nelson and Past President and CEO of Purina Mills, Edward McMillan.
